Good Morning Griffon Nation!  We hope you had a great weekend.  What a weekend it was for #12 Griffon Football as they bounced back from the week before to defeat #7 Pittsburg State 63-14 and Griffon Soccer kept their MIAA Tournament hopes alive with a victory over Southwest Baptist yesterday.  It's another busy week as football has another critical game Thursday night, it's soccer senior night this Friday and volleyball continues MIAA play on the road.  We also hope you have plans to attend the 9th Annual Griffon Basketball Tip-Off Party in the fieldhouse this Wednesday night.  More in-depth details on the above events as well as other items are listed below "This Week In Griffon Athletics!"
 
GRIFFON LUNCHEON TODAY
We hope you have plans to join us for lunch today for the weekly Griffon Luncheon from 12 - 1 PM at 36th Street Food & Drink Company inside the Holiday Inn Downtown.  Enjoy a great buffet lunch for only $7.00 and get all the latest information from Griffon coaches & staff.  Voice of the Griffons Dave Riggert broadcasts live from the luncheon each week on ESPN 1550 AM.   No RSVP is necessary.
 
9TH ANNUAL GRIFFON BASKETBALL TIP-OFF PARTY SET FOR THIS WEDNESDAY NIGHT AT 7 PM
Celebrate the opening of basketball season with the traditional Griffon Basketball Tip-Off Party Wednesday, October 24th at 7 PM in the fieldhouse.  We'll introduce the teams publicly for the first time, the teams will scrimmage and conduct many contests and interactive games with the fans as well.  The first 500 fans in attendance will receive free t-shirts, pizza and refreshments.  Admission is FREE!
 
THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL ON MIAA TELEVISION THIS WEEK!
#12 Griffon Football is now 7-1 after dealing Pittsburg State their worst home lost since 1914 in front of a record last Saturday at Carnie Smith Stadium.  It's a short week this week as the Griffs travel to Emporia to take on 8-0 Emporia State with kickoff set for 6:07 PM.  Fans heading to the game may call the Emporia Ticket Office for presale tickets at 620-341-5859. The game is also broadcast live on the MIAA Television Network which is aired on Channel 19 on Suddenlink Cable locally and KSMO Channel 62 in Kansas City.  To view the full television network affiliate list, log on to themiaa.com.  The game can also be heard live on the Griffon Sports Network (KFEQ 680 AM or KMRN 1360 AM) with the pregame show beginning at 5:00 PM.
 
ALUMNI ASSOCIATION WATCH PARTIES SET FOR THURSDAY
Griffon Alumni Association Chapters in St. Joseph, Kansas City and St. Louis are organizing watch parties for Thursday's game.  Locations are being finalized and information will be passed along as soon as it becomes available.
 
FOOTBALL SENIOR DAY NOVEMBER 3RD
Griffon Football returns home Saturday, November 3rd as they host Washburn in the final regular season home game of the season at 1:30 PM.  It's senior day as we'll honor the 26 Griffon Football seniors prior to the game.  It's also Griffon Football Alumni Weekend, stay tuned for details on gogriffons.com.  This is shaping up to be a crucial game, so let's pack the house for senior day!
 
PINK WEEK SHATTERS GOAL!!!!!
Thanks to everyone who donated for helping make PINK WEEK a huge success!  We shattered our $1,000 goal as to date we've raised $1,125.73 with all funds being donated to the Heartland Auxiliary Breast Center at Heartland Regional Medical Center.  If you would still like a PINK Griffon t-shirt or would just like to make a donation, we'll be selling them while they last in our office (Looney Complex 229) through the end of the month (only large & XL sizes remain).  
 
GRIFFON VOLLEYBALL CONTINUES ACTION
Griffon Volleyball has hit the home stretch of the MIAA schedule and continues action this week.  Tomorrow they travel to Maryville to take on Northwest Missouri State at 7 PM and Friday night they travel to Joplin to take on Missouri Southern at 7 PM.  The Griffs return home Tuesday, October 30th as Truman State will be in the fieldhouse with game time set for 7 PM.
 
GRIFFON SOCCER SET FOR SENIOR NIGHT AND BIG GAME THIS FRIDAY
Griffon Soccer kept their MIAA Tournament hopes alive as they defeated Southwest Baptist 1-0 at Spratt Stadium yesterday afternoon.  The final regular season game is set for this Friday night at 7 PM as they host Missouri Southern.  We'll honor seniors Kelly Voights, Abby Widrig, Erin Widrig, Ashlyn Castillo and Ashley Grunder in pregame ceremonies.
 
GRIFFON MEN'S GOLF COMPLETES FALL SCHEDULE IN MWSU INVITATIONAL
Griffon Men's Golf closed out their fall schedule finishing ninth in the 20 team MWSU Central Region Invitational at St. Joseph Country Club last week.  Individually, Tyler Gast finished in a tie for 11th in the 100 player field with rounds of 71, 74 & 76.
 
BASKETBALL SEASON IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER
Griffon Basketball is underway as both teams have started practice.  The regular season is right around the corner!  Fifteen home dates are on the schedule this season beginning with the women hosting Metro State on Saturday, November 10th at 6:30 PM.  For those of you who do not currently have chairback seating, the upgrade letter went out last week.  The cost to upgrade to chairbacks is $100 for two seats.  With questions about open locations, give us a call 816-271-5904.
