4/30/2010 - WESTERN MEN’S GOLF SIGNS ONE FOR THE 2010-11 SEASON - ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Missouri Western men’s golf coach Jim Perry has announced the signing of one student-athlete to the national letter of intent for the 2010 season. Derek Hawkins from Tarkio, Mo. has signed on to play for the Griffons next fall.

4/20/2010 - GRIFFON MEN FINISH 8TH AT FINAL EVENT OF THE YEAR; CRAWFORD EARNS ALL-MIAA - KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Missouri Western men’s golf team finished 8th at the MIAA Conference Championships held at Tiffany Greens Golf Course in Kansas City, Mo. The Griffons shot a three round total of 962 (317-324-321) with the winner of the event Central Missouri shooting 893 (290-293-310). Daniel Crawford also earned All-MIAA by finishing in the top 10 of the regula season standings.

4/13/2010 - GRIFFON MEN FINISH IN 10TH AT MSSU SPRING INVITATIONAL - Results
JOPLIN, Mo. – The Missouri Western men’s golf team finish 10th in the MSSU Spring Invitational shooting a 59 over par 635 (321-314) at Twin Hills Golf Course in Joplin, Mo. Western finished seven strokes out of ninth place and ten out of eighth. The winner of the event was Central Missouri firing a two round total of 604 (310-294), just one stroke better then second place finisher Northeastern State.

4/12/2010 - GRIFFON MEN IN 11TH PLACE AFTER DAY ONE OF MSSU SPRING INVITATIONAL - JOPLIN, Mo. – The Missouri Western men’s golf team sits in 11th place after day one of the MSSU Spring Invitational shooting a 33 over par 321 at Twin Hills Golf Course in Joplin, Mo. Western is 19 strokes behind leader Fort Hays State as the shot 302.

4/8/2010 - GILLILAND NAMED MIAA GOLFER OF THE WEEK - KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Missouri Western sophomore golfer Logan Gilliland has been named the MIAA Men’s Golf Student-Athlete of the Week. This marks the first time that Gilliland has been honored for this award.

4/6/2010 - GRIFFON MEN FINISH 16TH AT UCO KICKINGBIRD CLASSIC - EDMOND, Okla. - Griffon Men's Golf finished 16th at the UCO/Kickingbird Classic at Twin Hill Golf Course in Edmond, Okla.  The Griffons posted a team score of 910 (296-295-319) which was twelve strokes out of 11th place and 23 back of 6th place.  The winner of the event was Abilene Christian as they posted a three round total of 847 (275-284-288) which was six strokes better then second place finisher Cameron University. Washburn was the highest MIAA finisher shooting a three round total of 896 (295-294-307) which allowed the Ichabods to finish 10th.

4/5/2010 - GRIFFONS SIT IN 13TH TWO ROUNDS OF UCO KICKINGBIRD CLASSIC - Day One Results
EDMOND, Okla. - Griffon Men's Golf stands sits in 13th place after two rounds of the UCO/Kickingbird Classic at Twin Hill Golf Course.  The Griffons posted a team score of 591 (296-295) which is five strokes out of seventh place and 36 back of the leader Cameron University as they posted a 555 (271-284) on the first day. Missouri Southern posted the best first day score from an MIAA team with a 586 (296-290) which puts them in seventh place.

3/29/2010 - MEN’S GOLF FINISHES 2ND IN OWN INVITE; GILLILAND FINISHES 1ST - Results

St. Joseph, Mo. - Griffon Men's Golf finished in second place in the MWSU Invitational played at Moila Country Club.  The Griffons posted a team score of 606 which sits was three strokes back of first place finisher Fort Hays State who two day total of 300.  Pittsburg State rounds out the three team field with a two day total of 618.

3/28/2010 - GRIFFON MEN'S GOLF IN SECOND PLACE AFTER DAY ONE OF MWSU INVITATIONAL - St. Joseph, Mo. - Griffon Men's Golf stands in second place after day one of the MWSU Invitational played at Moila Country Club.  The Griffons posted a team score of 300 which sits three strokes behind first place Fort Hays State who fired an opening day team score of 297.  Pittsburg State rounds out the three team field with a first round total of 312.

3/16/2010 - MEN’S GOLF FINISHES 6TH IN PASTA HOUSE DRURY SPRING INVITE - SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Missouri Western men’s golf finished in sixth place at the Pasta House Drury Spring Invitational held in Springfield, Mo. at Rivercut Golf Course. In the opening event of the spring portion of their 2010 season, the Griffons shot a team score of 634 (324-310). The winner of the event Fort Hays State shot a 609 (312-297).

3/15/2010 - MEN’S GOLF SITS IN 6TH AFTER FIRST DAY OF PASTA HOUSE DRURY SPRING INVITE - SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Missouri Western men’s golf sits in sixth place after the opening round of the Pasta House Drury Spring Invitational held in Springfield, Mo. at Rivercut Golf Course. In the opening event of the spring portion of their 2010 season, the Griffons had a team score of 324 over 18 holes. The leader of the event Southwest Baptist shot a round one score of 303.

10/6/2009 - GRIFFON MEN FINISH 5TH IN FINAL TOURNAMENT OF THE FALL - HAYS, Kan. – On a brisk windy day in Hay, Kan. the Missouri Western men’s golf team shot a second round of 315 to help them finish in 5th place in the Fort Hays State Fall Classic which was played at the Smoky Hill Country Club. Western shot a two day total of 621 (306-315) with Corey Youngclaus leading the way shooting 149 (71-78), which allowed him to finish in sixth place. The team champion of the event was Central Missouri firing 595 (287-308), 14 strokes better then second place finisher Nebraska-Kearney.

10/5/2009 - GRIFFON MEN TIED FOR 5TH AFTER ROUND ONE OF FHSU FALL CLASSIC - HAYS, Kan. – The Missouri Western men’s golf team shot one of the best rounds of the fall with a 306 in the first round of the FHSU Fall Classic. Western sits in a tie for fifth place with the Lions of Missouri Southern State while Corey Younglcaus sits in a tie for second shooting an even par 71 (33-38).

9/29/2009 - MEN’S GOLF FINISHES 14TH AT NCAA DII CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW - INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Missouri Western men’s golf team finished in 14th place at the NCAA DII Championship Preview shooting a two day total of 661 (327-334). The winner of the event was the Mules of Central Missouri shooting a two round total of 610 (309-301).

9/28/2009 - MEN’S GOLF SITS IN 10TH AFTER DAY ONE OF THE NCAA DII PREVIEW INVITE - INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Missouri Western men’s golf team sits in 10th place after day one of the NCAA DII Preview Invite shooting a round one total of 327. The leader of the event is Central Missouri with a round one total of 309, six strokes better than Grand Valley State University who sits in second.

9/22/2009 - WESTERN MEN FINISH 9TH AT THE NSU GOLF CLASSIC -

Tahlequah, Okla. – After a rained shortened first day the Missouri Western men’s golf team finished in 9th place at the Northeastern State Golf Classic shooting a two round total of 623 (315-308) just one stroke back of 8th place. The winner of the event is Central Missouri shooting 595 (298-297) nine strokes better then second place finisher the host school Northeastern State University, 606 (310-296).

9/15/2009 - MEN’S GOLF TAKES FIFTH AT BULLDOG CLASSIC - KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Missouri Western men’s golf team shot a two round 599 (295-304) to finish in 5th place of the two round Bulldog Classic hosted by Truman State University at the Kirksville Country Club in Kirksville, Mo. The University of Central Missouri won the event shooting a two round total of 569 (293-276).

9/14/2009 - MEN’S GOLF SITS IN FIFTH PLACE AFTER FIRST ROUND OF BULLDOG INVITATIONAL - KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Missouri Western men’s golf sits in 5th place after round one of the two round Bulldog Classic hosted by Truman State University at the Kirksville Country Club in Kirksville, Mo. The Griffons shot a 295 on the first day and trail the leader Washburn University by seven strokes as they shot a 287 after eighteen holes. There are seven teams that are within ten strokes of the leader.

6/29/2009 - FIVE CURRENT AND FORMER GRIFFONS REPRESENT WELL IN 102ND MISSOURI AMATEUR - ST. JOSEPH - MO. - The most prestigious amateur golf tournament in the state of Missouri was held in the heart of Griffon Country this past week as St. Joseph Country Club served host to the 102nd Annual Missouri State Amateur Golf Championship.  Five current and former Griffons advanced from the 156 player field as part of the 64 players that qualified for match play to determine the coveted champion.
