6/29/2009 - FIVE CURRENT AND FORMER GRIFFONS REPRESENT WELL IN 102ND MISSOURI AMATEUR
ST. JOSEPH - MO. - The most prestigious amateur golf tournament in the state of Missouri was held in the heart of Griffon Country this past week as St. Joseph Country Club served host to the 102nd Annual Missouri State Amateur Golf Championship.  Five current and former Griffons advanced from the 156 player field as part of the 64 players that qualified for match play to determine the coveted champion.

6/29/2009 - WESTERN HOLDS GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY FOR NEW FACILITY

Missouri Western held the groundbreaking ceremony for the indoor sports and recreation center that will house the summer training camp of the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday, June 29 at the Chris Faros Alumni Pavilion. Speakers at the event included Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder; State Sen. Charlie Shields; Denny Thum, Chiefs president; Ken Shearin, mayor of St. Joseph; R.T. Turner, Buchanan County presiding commissioner; Dr. Robert Vartabedian, Western's president; Dirck Clark, chair of Western's Board of Governors; and Dave Williams, director of athletics. Dan Nicoson, vice president for university advancement, served as master of ceremonies. Construction of the indoor practice facility is scheduled to begin July 1, and be completed in time to host the Chiefs training camp in July 2010.

6/25/2009 - THROCKMORTON HIRED AS TIGHT ENDS COACH
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Todd Trockmorton returns for his third stint at Missouri Western as he has been hired on as the new tight ends coach replacing Mike McFarland. Throckmorton spent the past three seasons at the University of New Mexico as the Lobo’s tight end coach.
